Flowyline and Slicksticks Woodworks: Meaningful Story Behind a Coffee Table

On May 18, 2024, the first annual tournament by the Mainiacs Cornhole Family Fund was held inside Scarborough’s Throttle Car Club in Scarborough, Maine with cornholes games and raffles. The goal of this event is to raise funds and continue the legacy of the lives lost in the Lewiston mass shooting.

The Maineiacs Cornhole Family Fund is a nonprofit charitable organization established by John Maloney just a few months after the tragic mass shooting. Its goal is to carry on the legacy of the victims by honoring them through scholarships in their names. Maloney shared that three of his friends lost their lives at Schemengees Bar and Grill, where some of them had been playing cornhole.

“I’m doing okay,” said Jasper. “I still have scars, but there's still a bullet in me."

With the hope of contributing a little part to their moving action, Flowyline Design, Slicksticks Woodworks, and TotalBoat teamed up to create not only a coffee table for a charity auction but also a symbolic bridge for us to connect with the participants in the event and support individuals who have incurred undeserved losses.

"I think that's important, to carry on the legacy of the victims,” said John Maloney.

Roughly 200 attendees there showed great support, with bids for the table reaching around $1000, a sum truly deserved by the victims. To express support for the affected individuals and promote respectful actions, articles about the tournament were also featured on WPFO FOX23, Channel 8 WMTW, NEWS CENTER Maine, WGME CBS 13, and other information channels.

The president of the Mainiacs Cornhole Family Fund revealed a touching detail: the man who won the table had been shot in the hand but survived the incident. Somehow, a meaningful piece of furniture found its way to incredible people, adding even more significance to the auction.
