Sizes only work when the placement works. Here are the rules our delivery team repeats in every home.
- The half-to-two-thirds rule: Your console should span one-half to two-thirds of the sofa or wall behind it. On a bare wall, you can stretch to three-quarters. This keeps the table substantial without swallowing the space.
- The sofa back rule: Keep the tabletop level with the sofa back or 1 to 2 inches lower. Measure the sofa before you shop, because eyeballing this one fails constantly.
